Matter Matters!

Matter Matters, is a multi-part standards driven lesson studying the states of matter culminating in a fun experiment experiencing the effects of sublimation with students. Students are challenged throughout the lesson to use the scientific method, record results, and to make hypotheses activating prior knowledge before observing and recording results.

Kinesthetic
Number Line

The kinesthetic number line gets students up and moving! The number line can be used for many lessons, but this one focuses on solidifying a students understanding of equivalent fractions and simple addition and subtraction. Students work collaboratively to first build the number line, and then place their fractions on the line.

Summative Artifact

My summative artifact from the science of teaching reading academy module ten. This module covered reading comprehension. In the first half of the artifact there are identified examples of explicit and systematic instruction within a given lesson plan and explanations of how these have a direct impact on student learning. The second half of the artifact includes formative assessment of student work and a scripted, research based lesson on how to support student needs based on data.
